A significant departure from the air-cooled flat-six powered 911 of the past, the new, liquid-cooled 996 represented an exciting entry into the Porsche sports car lineup. In December, 2004, an engine replacement was completed under factory warranty by Porsche Roslyn Heights, New York. The updated IMS replacement engine came with a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty.
